Practical tips
Blood oranges are usually round, about 6 – 9 cm in diameter, medium-sized oranges with reddish flesh. The coloring is triggered by the so-called anthocyanins. This is a coloring agent which, when combined with the fruit acid, causes the flesh of the fruit to turn red at low temperatures. Depending on how low the temperatures were during the ripening of the blood orange, the redder the color will be.
Extra information
Moro oranges are so-called whole-blood oranges, ie they have red flesh and a red skin.
