Practical tips
In Japanese, shiitake means mushroom (take) that grows on the pasania tree (shii). It comes from the forests of China and Japan, where it is also highly regarded as a medicinal mushroom. Its color ranges from light to dark brown and is partly covered with white flakes. The taste of the thick-fleshed, firm mushroom with a brown cap is slightly reminiscent of garlic.
